The best cafe in the known universe is in North Melbourne

Everything in the menu is made from solid awesome. Beetroot eggs, baked tomatoes, chicken wrap thingies, huge plates o' pesto eggs, rad smoothies and the best french toast you'll ever eat, ever. They have some sort of secret they cook the bacon and mushrooms and stuff in that makes it taste like happiness.
They use Supreme coffee and Procal and Bonsoy. Also, the dude(s) who make the coffee have got to be some of the best baristas in Melbourne.
Anthony is disarmingly charmingly good.
French toast involves amazing maple butter stuff, poached apple, all layered with perfectly cooked bacon, some sort of tasty sauce thing, and maple syrup to suit. I usually like to put lots and lots of it.
The little courtyard is awesome.
These days there's a waiting list for tables on Saturday mornings, but if you bring a book you can read it and have a coffee while you wait.
They have good taste in music.
Get the pancakes! Also get an espresso.
If you're difficult, all like “can you put the bacon in a little thingy on the side so I can share it with my friend”, they are nice about it and let you be difficult.
It's a happy place.
